Principles from the Principal

Thoughts about Halloween from a Praying Parent

These thoughts and scriptures are from one of our moms and I think they are worthy to pass on to you.  This is the time of year that we may have strong differences in the way we view October 31st, and the activities leading up to it.  The Lord tells us that the truth will set us free. The truth also gives us the confidence to make decisions for our family that will assure that “peace that passes understanding”.  Thank you for your prayers for our students, your children, as we Lift Jesus Higher than the fears of this world.   Mrs. Freeman

Scriptures and Thoughts

God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of a sound mind.

He says, Fear not for I am with you.

Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

Do you know that there are 365 verses saying do not be afraid, one for EVERY day of the year.

So God does NOT want us to be afraid. He wants us to have CONTINUAL peace.

Just be thinking of this on Tuesday the 31st.

God made Tuesday and EVERY day.

There is NEVER a day he wants us to be afraid.

YET this day called Halloween is meant to scare us and cause us to fear- all in the name of fun.

Haunted Houses, Haunted Hayrides, Witches, Ghosts, Scary things to see and look at and experience.

The devil has a different plan for us than the one God has. He wants to steal, kill, and destroy. He wants us to be afraid, fearful, terrified. He uses this day and this time of year for his plans and purposes. Many call October 31 the day of the dead.

Jesus said I am come that you might have LIFE and have it more abundantly. He also said that- the devil wants to steal, kill, and destroy us. John 10:10

The devil will use our participation in this day, if he can, to harm us and our families.

I am praying that God not allow any harm to come to those I know and those in this school, but it is dangerous to play with fire.

All things are permissible, but all things are NOT for our blessing– it says in the Bible. I Corinthians 10:23

You can choose to participate in this holiday in one way or another, but I am asking you to prayerfully consider what you allow.

I do not want to give our enemy, the devil, any help in giving my children frightening dreams or making them afraid or give him an opportunity to harm them in any way.

Jesus says: Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid.” John 14:27

Spiritual Emphasis Week

This coming week, October 23-27, we will again welcome our friends from Coastlands Consultants in New Hampshire.  Dr. Pam Brady; Mr. Matt Huffman; and two other team members, Nate and Anna;  will arrive Sunday evening and stay through Friday afternoon.  For our students who have been here in the previous 3 years this a special week, as the team will be teaching us new songs, new moves, new challenges, and a fresh way of receiving God’s word.  Our 8th grade students will have  focused time with them as they  journal daily, and our other classes have enjoyed having them in the classroom to answer questions, pray with them, and get to know them.  What a refreshing week this will be for faculty and students alike!

One of our favorite games when our friends from Coastlands come.
